Trump Welcomes Families of Injured National Guard Members to White House

Former President Donald Trump revealed on Sunday that he has asked the family of a Guard member tragically killed last week to come to the executive mansion.

He noted that he conversed with her parents and they were “heartbroken”.

Background on the Heartbreaking Incident

Soldier Beckstrom, 20, was lost her life in a shooting on Wednesday in DC.

Her comrade, Staff Sgt Andrew Wolfe, twenty-four years old, continues receiving treatment in serious condition.

Memorials across West Virginia have been held in their honor.

Presidential Call

The commander-in-chief said he’s discussed a meeting at the presidential residence for the families of both individuals of the West Virginia National Guard.

“I said: ‘When you’re able, because that’s a tough thing, arrive at the White House. We’re going to pay tribute to her,” Trump addressed the press. “And likewise with him, recover or not.”

Community Support

Mourners came together over the weekend at a local school in West Virginia to remember Beckstrom.

Both they had been fulfilling duties with the military unit as part of Trump’s federal initiative to assist policing efforts in Washington DC.

Paying Tribute to Beckstrom

“She was the kind of student that teachers desired. She conducted herself with quiet strength, a contagious smile and a optimistic attitude that inspired people around her,” Jarrod Hankins, the head of her previous school, informed the Associated Press. “She was caring, caring and always willing to help others.”

Funeral details for Sarah are still being arranged.

Judicial Steps and Government Adjustments

Officials have accused a 29-year-old suspect with a charge of murder and two counts of attempted murder while armed.

The incident prompted the Trump administration to suspend asylum applications and temporarily stop issuing entry permits to owners of Afghan passports.

Status of Wolfe

Wolfe, a native of the city, began his service in February 2019 and is a 2019 graduate of Musselman high school, according to the news agency.

He is still undergoing care and is “fighting for his life”, the state’s governor Patrick Morrisey said on Fox News Channel’s The Sunday Briefing.

Attorney general Bondi stated on a news show that she aimed to meet with Wolfe’s family.

Memory of the Fallen Soldier

Sarah, from her hometown, completed her education from Webster County High in mid-2023 and enlisted soon after, serving as a MP with honor, as stated by the state guard.

“She had a lot of compassion and she definitely had fortitude,” he told the audience at the vigil. “Though her life was cut short, she has created a legacy that’s going to endure.”
