The former Liverpool manager admits rejoining to coach Liverpool is plausible in theory.

Jurgen Klopp, who left Liverpool in 2024, has suggested that returning someday remains an option. Klopp, post a game-changing nine-season tenure which brought continental glory and the Premier League crown in 30 years, now holds positions overseeing worldwide football for Red Bull and providing guidance for the DFL.

Fan Sentiment and His Frank Comments

The club claimed the Premier League in the previous campaign, but many fans who adore the manager would be thrilled by the idea that he may eventually return. During an extensive chat, he shared with the podcast host: “I declared I will never coach a different club on English soil. So that means should it be the Reds...absolutely. Theoretically it’s possible.”

“At 58 years old, which suggests I might decide in a few years, it's uncertain. Is a decision required immediately? Then I will not coach again. Fortunately, no such pressure exists. I'll wait and observe how things unfold.”

Conditions for a Comeback

Questioned regarding which situations would need to occur to tempt his return to the touchline, he revealed he isn't eager to such a return. “I don’t even know exactly, I enjoy my current role,” he commented. “No longing for management; No desire to be under bad weather for two-and-a-half or three hours; No need for press conferences four times, three times a week or constant media duties weekly.

“The locker room isn't missed per se, but sitting in a restaurant with the team having a nice chat, is pleasant. With many victories so there was often positive atmosphere in the building. I still have Van Dijk's laughter vividly recalled for example.”

Commending Arne Slot

He spoke highly regarding Arne Slot, acknowledging his role due to the changes that took the title last term. Liverpool have lost a string of losses in all competitions following significant transfers, but he rubbished the notion it could be a decline.

“[Liverpool have] a phenomenal forward in Flo[rian] Wirtz, critics will regret with negative comments. An outstanding player. The French striker, excellent performer. It’s a really good thoughtfully assembled roster. You don’t have to worry over the club, they will be fine.”

Heartfelt Words for the Late Forward

The manager expressed deep feeling regarding the passing of Diogo Jota, a 2020 acquisition during his tenure, and the effect on Liverpool. Jota was killed in a car crash together with his sibling recently.

“How do you replace such an individual? It goes beyond the player himself, his personality mattered. I struggle to conceive the dressing room without him in it. Putting it into words is tough regarding this. A devastating blow for all the boys also. No one within the club would cite it for poor performances yet it's the reality. Being in that space where he was omnipresent. Dealing with that on a personal level is not easy. Unbearable.”
