Realistically, they'd hope for an Ashes series in Australia where they still have a chance to win back the Ashes following the initial matches.

Unfortunately, this scenario is off the table on this occasion, however, after a comprehensive victory by 82 runs in Adelaide put the hosts 3-0 up for the fourth straight contest on their own soil.

England's famous supporters' group, the vocal contingent, have a large group making the journey for the final two Tests in the SCG and MCG.

There are also tour groups who will celebrate the holidays in Australia, as well as families and friends planning a special expedition.

A group of four supporters are a prime example.

The group had their travel arrangements and match passes arranged for the fourth and fifth Tests "well ahead of time", anticipating a rare England series success.

"People in the office has been teasing me about it being over for the last two weeks," stated Sam Ryding.

Prompted about he believed England will win a match in this Ashes series, Sam said: "It appears the Aussies are just too good currently."

"It will require multiple performers that stands up for England and produces a match-winning display."

Regardless of the result, the fans are excited about the trip.

"We will have a great time anyway," added another sibling. "Our approach is that attitude."

"Obviously it is unfortunate we can't contest the series, but we have made a substantial financial commitment already."

"We will make the most of celebrating the holidays overseas. It is also our first experience away from home at this time of year."

A teacher, Katie is determined to make the most of the long-haul travel as part of her Christmas holidays.

"As a backup plan, I've got golf to rely on," she finished.
