Canada's Blue Jays Earn World Series Showdown With the Dodgers
The outfielder contributed to the Astros securing the championship in 2017.
Toronto's Blue Jays advanced to their initial championship series following 1993 by defeating the Mariners in the seventh Game 7 of the AL Championship Series.
Trailing by two runs, Springer delivered a three-run blast in the seventh inning, propelling the Toronto squad in Major League Baseball to a four games to three triumph in the series. They will now face the Dodgers, holders of the current crown, in the anticipated championship.
"I'm thrilled for everyone here, Toronto, the nation," Springer stated, an integral part of the Astros team that won the 2017 World Series. "It's truly an unbelievable moment."
George Springer has now connected for 23 October home runs, ranking him third on the list behind Manny Ramirez (29) and Altuve (twenty-seven).
"There's probably not another person on planet Earth that I'd choose in that spot besides Springer with his playoff prowess," said manager John Schneider.
Seattle's team, despite leading the series two games to none and three games to two, are still the only MLB franchise never to appear in a World Series.
Wilson said "without a doubt that it hurts" in the wake of his side's defeat at their home ballpark, but praised their work this season.
"This is a unique group. Unfortunately that we finished on the losing end of this one," he continued.
The Blue Jays secured the championship on both previous visits in 1992 and 1993, and will host the Dodgers in the opener on Friday.
