Arne Slot Asserts He Feels Safe and Retains Liverpool's Backing After PSV Eindhoven Humiliation

The Liverpool head coach conceded that it's understandable for doubts to be asked about his position following another heavy loss against the Dutch champions.

Liverpool endured their 9th loss in 12 matches, marking the club's poorest run since being relegated in the 1953-54 season.

They were taken apart by the Eredivisie title holders on a difficult evening at their home ground.

“I'm confident, I am OK, I have got a lot of backing from management,” the coach commented.

“It would be nice to turn it around and get a victory naturally but when you're coaching a team and underperforming then it's typical that doubts arise.”

He noted, “I accept my situation. It is not the first time I've found myself in a challenging situation but it is about time that we turned it around.”

Conversations with Club Management

When asked to provide details on his conversations with the team officials, the head coach revealed:

“There's regular dialogue. They assist to the team and to me and we discuss these matters but they don’t call me all the time of the day to say they back me.”

He mentioned, “During our regular conversations we have I sense the belief. However I haven’t spoken to them after this game so far so we'll see.”

Recurring Issues and Squad Reaction

The manager expressed regret over recurring failings from his team in their European defeat, namely poor finishing and conceding too easily.

Meanwhile, player Curtis Jones was blunter in his evaluation of the team's situation.

“I haven't got the solutions. Honestly, I don’t. I’m saying that to everybody,” the midfielder said.

“It's simply not good enough. I don’t even need to wait to reflect. I’m past feeling anger internally. I’m at the point currently where I just don’t have the phrases.”

He added, “It's difficult because I play for the club I love. I'm a supporter, and I've watched Liverpool for years.”

“For many years, I haven’t experienced a Reds side experiencing a spell such as this with performances like these.”

Jones stated, “But we continue to wear that badge on our shirts. And until that badge is removed, we'll continue to fight.”

“Our aim is to get this team return to its rightful place, prove again what this club is about and why it's known as the top club in the world.”

“At this moment, we’re in the shit and we have to turn it around.”
